Hi Friend!
It’s been a long time since there have been this many different things going on at Cyan. All at the same time, of course! We’re all continuing to work from home and everyone has been going at full-speed trying to get as much as possible done before the holiday season really starts up in earnest… So let’s dive in and talk about what’s happening! Start Crowing… With Crowbox! You know those times when you're with a few friends (social distancing, of course) and you have a picture on your phone that you want to show them? It's awkward - do you hand them your phone, or try to show them from a distance, or send it to them? No! Just Crow it! Crowbox lets you show YOUR photos on THEIR phones. You control the show – but they see it on their device. Like an old-fashioned slideshow, except everyone has their own personal screen. It's free, and it's available on iOS right now. Still not sure what Crowbox is? Try this video, or check the Crowbox website, or just try it...
Myst Online: Uru Live (again) - AKA MOULaWe forgot to mention in our last newsletter that new ages were added to MOULa recently! If it’s been a while since you’ve visited, or haven’t yet had a chance to visit MOULa before, you can find more details on how to get started here! What is MOULa? Myst Online: Uru Live (again) is a massive multiplayer online game (MMO) unlike anything else which existed at the time it was released. Instead of repetitive kill/take/buy gameplay of other MMOs, the very essence of Myst Online is to explore vast, fantastic worlds; savoring and uncovering new areas and new information at every turn, and helping your fellow players navigate the worlds and puzzles cooperatively. Did we also mention… it’s free to play? (Free as in actually free, no microtransactions at all! .) Thoroughly Modern MystDid you catch the announcement at Facebook Connect last month? Cyan has been working on a brand new version of Myst, completely reimagined for modern game systems and - for the first time for any game in the Myst series - including optional VR support! Getting Myst out there also hopefully sets us up to tackle some of the other “wishlist” projects that we’ve all been wanting to get to for years, and of course as Karl talked about in his recent interview , innovations and optimizations the team are making for Myst will also benefit Firmament (and vice versa). All in all, we’ve never been more excited about everything that we’re working on! Check out our teaser trailer! We’ve got a quick favor to ask… If you’re excited about this game, could you help us out by wishlisting it on Steam or GOG? Not only will it help you to stay notified when the game launches, but it really helps us to gauge interest and excitement levels about Myst:
New Firmament series: “Creating Firmament” LaunchedOur Creative Director Eric has been making videos talking about both the art and the technical details when it comes to worldbuilding for a video game. Because he’s produced so much great content we’ve started a new series on our YouTube channel called “Creating Firmament.”
OK, that’s it from me for this month. I hope you are well and are staying safe… When we talk next month the holidays should be in full swing and I’ll have some things to unveil in our store that we’ve been working on for a while now! Speaking of which - I gave it a bit of a makeover this month in anticipation of the holidays, so hopefully it’s easier to navigate and find what you’re looking for! Check it out! ~Jeff and the Team at Cyan |
